Bio:

I was born two years before the fall of the Soviet Union. I now live in California.

Stuff I did:

(2009-2011) I wrote a Comet server and client that actually works, along with a ton of related infrastructure. Most Comet things don’t work, because it’s hard to make TCP (or “framed TCP”) work correctly over HTTP. It’s a lot like implementing TCP itself.

(2007-2008) I built Nexus friend grapher during the Facebook application bubble. It made a pretty visualization of your social graph, and compared your friends’ interests. My users said it was the only useful application.

(2002-2004) I developed and shipped commercial visualization software for biologists. It helped some scientists.

(2001-2002) I was hooked on shipping PHP freeware. “IP-Atlas” geolocated your IP and plotted it on an image of Earth. This was new at the time. It was mentioned in Linux Journal. Many people embedded it in their PHP-Nuke sites.

Trivia:

I ascended NetHack in the summer of 2007, after about a week of staring at a screen like this.

For novice Googlestalkers:

I am not the Slovakian Ivan Kozik, and I have no affiliation with ludios.com or ivankozik.org. My name is also included in copyright notices on many pages only because they like my software.
